Projects

The Regional Food Group promotes, supports and develops food and drink businesses in the region, aiming to grow the sector through product, business and workforce development and raising awareness and consumption of the fantastic produce from the region.

With a growing membership now including over 550 companies, we can demonstrate an excellent track record in assisting many businesses across all different areas. Our expertise in food technology, workforce skills, marketing, communications, trade and business development means you will get the best advice on how to take your business and products forward and make them successful. You can see just a few of the people we have helped below.

Food Safety

Our wide range of food safety and technical services will ensure you are operating safely, legally and to required standards.

We assisted The Yorkshire Provender with their British Retail Consortium (BRC) accreditation:

“Regional Food Group helped us achieve certification to BRC Standard Issue 5 – a testament to the quality of the support we received. Without the BRC certification, we wouldn’t have won the Sainsbury’s or Waitrose business which now equates to almost 50% of our current sales”
Terry Williams, Owner, The Yorkshire Provender

Learning & Development

Our Managed Online Learning Environment (MOLE) is a cost-efficient, convenient and easy-to-use way to train staff.

Herbs Unlimited used MOLE to help train staff:

“It costs us at least £95 per day to send a member of staff on a food hygiene course. The Regional Food Group’s online learning programme is a much more efficient way of training because we don’t lose people for an entire day. They can fit the training in when we are quieter.”
Alison Dodd, Owner, Herbs Unlimited

Trade Development

Our dedicated programme of events could help you secure new business and meet the right people.

Yorvale Ice Cream use our events as a way to meet new suppliers and build their reputation:

“We have attended exhibitions with the Regional Food Group, which have been very well organised and publicised giving maximum benefit to the exhibitor. Any workshops we have attended have been value for money and have been very informative. Having this calibre of organisation on the region available to a small company like ours, is without doubt, a massive benefit.”
Lesley Buxton, Owner, Yorvale Ice Cream

Product Development

Our team of food technologists can help take your ideas from concept to launch.

Jim Garrahy’s Fudge Kitchen developed a longer life fudge with our help:

“Thanks to the support of the Regional Food Group, we have been able to expand into totally new markets, which we are confident will have a significant impact in the future for turnover and profitability. I expect that in our first year from launch of our wholesale range we will increase turnover by 7-10%. We continue to get advice from Regional Food Group, and there are other new product projects in the pipeline.”
Sian Holt, Managing Director, Jim Garrahy’s Fudge Kitchen
