Q. Can you help me with hygiene/scores on the doors and compliance issues?

Our in-house team of qualified technologists are able to point out areas for improvement, identify the requirements the Environmental Health Officer will have and will take you through the right steps to achieve maximum scores on the doors. Our other Food Safety services, are the difference between getting into retail an not.

Our online learning platform make it easy to train your staff – they can undergo training modules and get a certificate at the end.

Q. Can you tell me what products I should be developing?

It is easy to become too close to your products and not see the potential or what is stopping them being a success. We hold regular focus groups where your can submit one or more of your products for consumer panel feedback

Q. How can I make sure my farm shop/deli/restaurant is up to standard?

We have recently introduced new services to help you regularly assess your business. Our Mystery Shopping and Mystery Dining services help you build sound and consistent feedback and allow you to make the necessary adjustments to your service.

Q. Can you help me find new customers and raise my company profile?

There are plenty of opportunities for you to raise your company’s profile and attract new customers when you’re a member. Whether business contacts or the general public, our programme of events will make it possible to generate a new audience. We have contacts at all of the major retailers and our presence at trade shows and consumer shows under the bold deliciouslyorkshire branding helps to boost visitor numbers to your stand.

Q. Can you help me find new suppliers?

When you join up as a member, you will have access to our 600+ other members and their products. We also host a number of events throughout the region where you get the chance to meet the producers – often leading to new business and certainly new contacts.

Q. Can we advertise vacancies on your website?

There is a Job Vacancies section on the deliciouslyorkshire Website – we can post your job adverts on there. All contact details will be yours so the applicants can contact you directly.

Q. How can we do a feature or story on our business?

We love to hear your stories! We publish two magazines: Taste (quarterly), the best industry focused magazine for the region, and also our membership newsletter, deliciouslyorkshire (every 6 weeks). There are opportunities within both of these publications as well as on our website if you want more immediate coverage. Please get in touch.

Q. I really need help to promote my business, can you help?

When you sign up to be a member, you will automatically go onto our websites. Here there is a description of your company as well as full contact details, and a Google map to help customers find where you are. The search function is easy to follow and allows visitors to find exactly what they’re looking for. We get in excess of 5,500 visitors to the DY website each month. When you join up, you will also feature in the list at the back of our membership newsletter. And there is the fantastically popular guide, Yorkshire’s Own Kitchen – the guide to the best food and drink in the region – where you will automatically get a free entry but can take out a bigger advert if you want. The guide is in book shops, independent retailers, available on our website and at all of our shows. We have an ongoing marketing and PR campaign to increase awareness of the deliciouslyorkshire brand – make sure you’re part of it!

Q. Is there any funding available to help me out?

There are a number of different funding streams available. Which one you apply for depends on the size, scope and nature of the project you need assistance with. Our Client Services Team can point you in the right direction and give you advice about the right one for you.

Q. Will someone let me know which events will work best for me?

Our programme of events and seminars are spread throughout the region all year round. Usually they focus on a particular audience (e.g. producer/manufacturer), so we can easily identify which events you should be attending. Your Client Services Manager will be on hand to make suggest the best ones for you.

Q. Do I need to be a member to access the services?

There is a wide range of membership benefits that you will miss out on if you do not join up, however you can access our Food Safety, Product Development, Trade Development and Learning and Development services. One thing to remember, there is a discounted rate for members!

Q. Do you go to exhibitions and food festivals where I can see other members?

There is an extensive programme of events, including both trade and consumer shows, where we take our members under the deliciouslyorkshire banner. Our eye-catching stands attract plenty of visitors! You can follow the events in the calendar.

Q. I am a thinking of starting up a food business, what can you do to help?

We would love to help! Many of our members joined in exactly the same situation and we have helped them to establish their businesses. One of our strategic partners is Business Link and working closely with them ensures you get the best help, from a business perspective and also from the food industry experts. Q. How does membership work?

deliciouslyorkshire are here to promote, support and develop the food and drink businesses in the Yorkshire and Humber region. Being a member can help in many ways – some people use their membership for different reasons: exhibiting at shows they may not otherwise attend, using the advice if setting up for the first time, taking advantage of the contacts we have, networking events to meet new buyers or suppliers or any of the services we offer to develop the products and company. The more you engage and interact, the more you get out of membership. We will contact you regularly and you are free to get in touch whenever you need to.

Q. How can I pay for membership?

You are able to make a on-off annual payment to join up or alternatively you can sign up to pay by monthly direct debit. Speak to our Client Services and Membership team for more information.

Q. How do I become a member?

Contact our Client Services Team – they’ll send you an application form and instructions about what to do next. We do need to check that you meet the criteria for membership.
